Eureka Street is a publication of Jesuit Communications. Jesuit Communications can take a few tertiary and secondary students for work experience each year. We normally accept students for short-term work experience only during the first two weeks of each month, excepting July. The application process is as follows:
Tertiary students
A. Look at the websites of our publications: Australian Catholics, Eureka Street, Madonna and Province Express. Read some of the articles to make sure you would like and be free to work in an organisation like ours.
B. Email the student coordinator, Fr Andrew Hamilton SJ, naming the period when you would like to work at Jesuit Publications, your field of studies, the requirements of your placement, and what you would like to gain from it.
C. We shall reply to your application and, if we are free to offer you a placement, we shall invite you to an interview.
Secondary students
A. Look at the websites of our publications and read some of the articles to make sure you would like to work in an organisation like ours.
B. Telephone (03 9421 9666) or email the student coordinator, Fr Andrew Hamilton SJ, naming the time(s) when you would like to work at Jesuit Communications.
C. We shall let you know if there is a vacancy. If so we shall invite you to make a formal application.
D. Your letter of application should explain why you would like to work at Jesuit Communications rather than other publishers, what you hope to gain from the experience, and provide evidence of your initiative and love of writing. With your letter, you should include a reference from one of your teachers that addresses these same criteria, along with a sample of your writing (essays, short stories, poetry, or anything else you enjoyed writing).
