The storm

Selected poems

The Storm

Despite the raging storm, I clearly see

a figure on the Sea of Galilee,

            a Son of Man

            with outstretched hands,

and he is calling me.

The Daughter of Jairus

He gently holds the dead girl’s hands.

Talitha koum,’ and now she stands.

Deliverance

The demons

that afflicted

Mary Magdalene

were cast out

in an instant

by the Nazarene.

After the Miracle

After the miracle,

Jesus waxed lyrical.

The Invisible Kingdom

My precious child, when all things fall apart,

always remember God looks at the heart.

And this is what I know to be true:

the Kingdom of God is within you.

The Centurions

That pack of dogs repay his love

with ridicule and scorn,

and place upon his precious head

a twisted crown of thorns.

The Place of the Skull

A crowd of people gather on the hill.

The sun is going down and time stands still.

At Golgotha

The butchery of man is unfurled…

but Jesus is the Rose of the World.
